Overview of new features and very basic overview if you are in need of more details this book is not for you.

I was very disappointed in this book considering the authors credentials. Poor editing, poor writing, and a total lack of complete test requirement coverage. Great book as a very basic introduction to Windows 7 maybe? Other resources I used were much more comprehensive in coverage. You will not pass or will barely pass the Windows 7 (70-680) exam if this is all you use to study. Make sure you supplement this book with other materials.

I have read I.T. books from Sybex, Microsoft and others but this one, I would say, is the least.

Topics were not discussed deeply and to much typo. My guess is the book was done in a hurry. I think I will not pass the MCTS 70-680 exam reading this book so I bought 70-680 Training Kit from Microsoft. MS book is way way much better in contents.

The authors writing style is good and easy to follow. There are a lot of typos in this book which is distracting. It needs more lab exercises. As an MCSE and CCNA, I don’t get the feeling that this book is going to have enough content for me to pass the test. I haven’t taken the test yet, but I have taken many MS tests and this book just doesn’t seem deep enough. Easy to read though, and a good introduction to the new OS.

Received this on Wednesday and sent it back on Friday. Too bad, I was looking forward to reading it. This book needs some serious editing. Numerous typo’s, font changes from say a 10 point to a 4 point. Very hard to read. On about page 55 or so text in a table runs off of the right side of the page, what’s the deal with that? Very simple to correct if the publisher would have taken one look through.

Some of the “pre evaluation” test questions are poorly worded. For instance one question asks which IP addresses, as in plural would be valid in a given senario. Well only one that is given would correct. Not multiple. Several other grammatical errors and several just flat out misspelled words. I did find it interesting that the copyright date is 2010.
