I used Lynette Olsen’s text, “Medical Coding Specialist’s Exam Review – Physician”, as a study guide for preparing for the AHIMA CCS-P Exam. The text contains information on preparing for the exam as well as practice tests for both sections of the AHIMA Exam and the AAPC Exam. The practice Abstracts were very helpful and facilitated research that enabled me to be very well prepared when I sat for the Exam. I strongly recommend this resource for anyone planning on taking the AHIMA CCS-P Exam as it serves as a very effective way of focusing your study activities.

This book is clear and to the point, and easy to understand. This is a MUST have book if you are studying for the CCS-P or the CPC test. Each Chapter has important information that you need to know for the tests, and then it is followed by a quiz, with answers after that. There is a CD that is included that is VERY helpful, because it has mock tests for both the CCS-P and CPC. After finishing the test then it is automatically scored and you know how well you did.

I used “Medical Coding Specialist’s Exam Review – Physician” to study for my CCS-P AHIMA exam. This book is very well organized and covers all the important points of coding, chapter by chapter. Each chapter test has answers to ALL the question – some books I used did not. I found this book was great for abstracting as it gets into the more confusing areas of medical coding in detail. There is also a CD that gives you timed Practice Exams for both CCS-P and CPC with Instant Scoring results. The book answers questions about the exam itself and tells you what to you will need to bring with you to the exam. A must have to prepare for either the AHIMA or AAPC Exams!

I have come across more than a few errors in this book and the CD Rom. I am wondering did I waste my money.

I found this book to be outstanding in helping me to prepare for the AHIMA CCS-P exam. Topics are well laid out with plenty of explanation. There are sample questions and abstracts that were very helpful, more helpful, in fact, than the sample questions from AHIMA. Using this book definitely helped me to pass the exam on the first try.
