Good book, I don't know why i'm writing a review- it has some errors which were kind of frustrating, however they provided some links to point out all the typos.

The book is great, good quality... Perfect for self-paced learning. I recommend to get a (free) router emulator to practice the concepts shown in the book, such as dynamips/dynagen/gns3 to apply the concepts better. The books has some little errors, such as graphics repeating (not supposed to) and some errors on the router labels. These facts shouldn't matter if you are really willing to learn the great (and challenging) world of cisco!.

The Cisco Press CCNA ICND2 Official Exam Certification Guide is an excellent resource for those who are planning on sitting for either the ICND2 (640-816) or the CCNA 640-802 certification exam. There are two discs included with the book; one is a DVD with video training on such topics as subnetting and NAT, the other contains the complete book in PDF format, as well as practice exams.

Topics in the book are presented in a logical order, and include LAN switching, IP routing, routing protocol configuration and troubleshooting, wide area networks, and scaling the IP address space. There is extensive coverage of NAT and advanced routing protocol configuration that was not included in the first edition of this book.

Throughout the book, there are concrete examples illustrating the concepts presented. At the beginning of each section, there is an outline of the ICND2 exam topics that are covered, giving the reader a chance to gauge their knowledge of the topic. As usual, there is a "Do I know this already?" section that enables readers to tell if they have sufficient knowledge of the material that is presented in the chapter, and gives them an opportunity to skip ahead!

With this title (as well as other certification titles available from Cisco Press), there is a companion Website that publishes updates and keeps track of errata. This enables the reader to have the latest information available at any time.

I studied this book for 3 months in order to pass the exam 640-816 (ICND exam part2). I got the exam score of 862. Wendell's explanation for LAN switching is simply awesome. Normally Layer2 Switching seems to be very difficult in the exam and it is time consuming rather IP Routing. Since I don't have much experience in Cisco catalyst switches/routers, I am looking for the best certification guide and found out this Wendell's book, that leads to earn CCNA certification for me within short amount of time.

Usually Layer 2 stuff are more difficult to troubleshoot than Layer 3 stuff in real world networking. If you studied this book thoroughly, you have earned very solid foundation especially for Layer 2 Switching.

The author needs to focus more on VLSM/Route summarization coverage. Even if you don't have experience in the networking field but you want to have certification
means, My recommendation would be: Buy this book and keep go throughing every line for Switching, Routing and WAN sections, in addition to that please don't forget to revise BOSON exam questions in CD/DVD comes along with this book.
